History & Charter Members

The idea for the Relocation Directors Council was first conceived in November of 1979 as several Relocation Specialists joined together to record their ideas on a "now-famous" cocktail napkin.

Time was short, Bobbie Kerns, Patty Greeves and friends were on their way to the airport after attending a meeting in Dallas. They agreed to gather others of like mind from across the country to meet on April 8, 1980 prior to ERC's meeting at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas.

There were conventions and educational seminars, but no real forum for those involved in Relocation.  These were the goals…

  • To share common problems and seek help in finding the answers
  • To gain insight into the complexities of the rapidly growing Relocation industry To encourage a high level of ethical and professional competency
  • To exert a positive and beneficial influence within the Relocation industry
  • To freely exchange ideas and innovative methods To foster education in Relocation
  • To promote fellowship

We consider those who joined our group prior to 1986 to be Charter Members:
